A leading and Australian based mining organisation with operations throughout the country is seeking an IT/OT Project Manager to work on a variety of projects starting over the next 12 months from a FIFO/remote working model (split approximately 50-50).
Your new role
Your new role will see you work within the small but dedicated multi-disciplinary Technology Project Management Team lead by the Program Delivery Manager whose aim is to work on the upgrade, enhancement and rollout of key technical solutions throughout the organisation and mine site!
Within this team you will oversee several key strategic technical projects to be rolled out over the next 12 months that are crucial to the running of this company’s largest mine site in QLD. These technical projects cover multiple domains including the IT disaster recovery (onsite data centre) and Scada (operational technology) spaces. To add to this, 2023 will see the organisation have a large focus on uplifting the technology used in the underground mine and as such you will need to be comfortable working and managing projects on site.
To deliver these projects you will be put in charge of the roadmap, budget and resources (engineers, suppliers, vendors etc) and will have to work with various stakeholders throughout the organisation to deliver projects on time and within budget in accordance with this organisation’s high standards.
Due to the nature of this role onsite visits to the mine site in Western QLD will be required which will vary depending on the project’s stage/state. This will be in a FIFO capacity on either a 4:3 or an 8:6 roster (i.e., 4 days on, 3 days off) from either Brisbane or Townsville airports (however transportation is provided to transfer you to these locations from other regional cities such as Cairns) with all flights, accommodation and meals provided.
When not on site you will be working remotely (from home) to manage and oversee these projects on a ‘normal’ working pattern (such as Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm etc). The approximate split between FIFO and remote working will be approximately 50/50 giving you the best of both worlds (however this organisation does have a satellite office in Townsville which can be worked from if wanted/needed).
What you'll need to succeed
You will need experience/knowledge across (in no particular order) the following:
Operational Technology (OT), Information Technology (IT) and overall mining technology systems and procedures
An understanding of a wide variety of IT infrastructure, networking, systems and software eco systems (due to the projects coming up an ’all-round’ knowledge of IT is applicable)
IT/Technical Project management
Roadmap planning and execution
Technical documentation
Clear spoken and written communication skills
Working in the mining/recourses sector a bonus
Understanding of application architecture and associated data architectures a bonus
NOTE:
You will be required to be located within QLD for the FIFO portion of this role with flights flying from Brisbane or Townsville (however if you are outside of these cities shuttle bus services can be provided from other QLD locations such as Cairns)
Full Australian working rights are needed
