About the Role:
You will embark on an exciting journey in the world of journalism under the mentorship of our accomplished editors and seasoned writers across the group. You will benefit from personalized mentoring sessions, comprehensive group training as well as engaging team-building activities. You will:
- Craft compelling stories: Report on local news, politics, business, and human-interest stories and see your byline in print and online from day one!
- Engage with the community: Build a network of local contacts and develop lasting relationships.
- Explore multimedia: Work with state-of-the-art publishing software and contribute to a range of media including podcasts, videos, social media, and photography.
What We Are Looking For:
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to write in a clear and engaging manner.
- Curiosity, a keen interest in the world around you and an eye for interesting stories.
- Focus on local news and a genuine passion for community.
- Commitment to the cadetship program and a thirst for learning.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to manage your time effectively to meet tight deadlines in a busy newsroom.
- A current driver’s license is required.
