We are seeking an experienced journalist to join Stock & Land's editorial team. The successful candidate will report on issues important to Victorian farmers, from politics to livestock markets, for both our print and online audiences. An understanding of agriculture and regional Victoria and/or experience in the agriculture industry would be seen as highly valuable, but not essential. This role can be based anywhere in Victoria, with ACM offices in Melbourne, Ballarat, Bendigo, Horsham, Wodonga and Warrnambool, and also the option to work from home. This role comes with a highly-competitive salary package.
The role's key responsibilities:
- Gathering, writing and self-editing news stories for publication in both print and online
- Using social media and digital storytelling tools to create engaging online content
- Building relationships with new and existing audience members to help in your ability to source stories
- Attending, reporting on and representing the masthead at sales, conferences and other events, including the Melbourne Royal Show, the Australian Sheep & Wool Show and the iconic Mountain Calf Sales in Victoria's high country
The ideal candidate:
- An industry professional with at least three years' experience in either journalism or agriculture
- Someone with a high attention to detail who is self-motivated and organised
- Someone with good time management skills to help meet important deadlines
- A good communicator who is happy to network with new people
- Someone with a valid driver's licence
