Journalist/Newsreader - Part Time
If you love news and keeping local communities informed about the things that affect their daily lives, read on!We’re looking for a journalist to prepare and present weekday news bulletins for ARN in Queenstown and Scottsdale. You’ll be sourcing, preparing, and reading local news as part of ARN’s Local News First initiative. This three-day a week position would be perfect for a recent journo graduate, someone currently undertaking tertiary studies in journalism or communications, or an experienced journo looking for part time work and hyper-local Tasmanian markets to make their own. ARN has a number of stations across Tasmania allowing for the right candidate to work from a location that suits them best.

About The Role:
- Write, edit and present news updates for our Queenstown and Scottsdale listeners.
- Conduct and edit interviews for inclusion in local news bulletins.
- Report from the field and attend media conferences, police incidents and other news events as required.
- Develop working relationships with key personalities and news sources within the broadcast market.
- Understand audience requirements of ARN stations to deliver targeted, interesting and informative news in a conversational, credible and sometimes fun style.

About You:
- Good on-air presentation and writing skills.
- Experience producing written or audio content.
- Completed or currently undertaking tertiary qualification in journalism or communications.
- Understanding of the law as it relates to media, particularly in the areas of Defamation and Contempt of Court.
- A passion for news and a workable understanding of sport.
