Destec is a diversified mining contractor with a fast-growing client base, providing ore crushing, screening and materials handling to the mining industry. We take pride in innovation through designing, constructing, building, maintaining and operating our own crushing and screening plants for Tier 1 mining sites. Additionally we provide ore processing and materials handling services to the mining industry across Western Australia. 

We are currently seeking a Junior Geologist to join our new iron ore mining operations located just out side Port Hedland, WA. 

This role will be offered FIFO ex Perth on a 8 days on 6 days off roster on a full time salaried position. 

The role will include but not be limited to:

• Conduct day to day mine geology activities, including face mapping, face sampling, updating all plans and sections with geology data
• You will be working on the front line operations, with field staff, ensuring precise ore spotting and upholding the integrity of our geological data. Your role will be instrumental in guiding our mining efforts and ensuring that we maximize the value of our resources while adhering to the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency.
• Grade control preparation, set out and sample collection
• Production and Grade Control data entry.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Geology (or related discipline);
• 12 months experience working in the field in a similar role. 
• Previous experience working in Iron Ore is highly desirable
• Appropriate experience in an operational environment;
• Current C class manual driver’s licence; and
• National Police Clearance.

Preferred, although not essential:

• First Aid Certificate; 
• 4WD Certificate, or willingness to obtain one (for exploration jobs).
