Junior Software Engineer

The Junior Software Engineer supports the Software Engineering Manager by using best practice design to assist with developing effective software solutions, websites and automation tools. You will collaborate with experienced developers to design, develop and maintain software solutions that meet the needs of our customers and contribute to the success of our projects while liaising with customers and collaborating with team members.
Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with senior developers to contribute to developing different software applications.
- Being confident to work with different programming languages such as PHP, Node, React, JavaScript, TypeScript.
- Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable codes following best practices and coding standards.
- Translating agreed requirements into simple, modular, and supportable source code.
- Proposing and implementing solutions to address technical challenges.
- Database setup, test and maintenance using Mongo/MS SQL,
- Utilising Test and Production environments as well as DevOps best practice including Unit Testing, Integration Testing, CI/CD pipelines and Change Requests to minimise outages.
- Assisting in general troubleshooting of software program/application issues as reported to the IT Service Desk.
- Providing a timely response to problems and correcting programs / applications as necessary.
- Evaluating and assessing programs / applications to increase effectiveness.
- Assisting with the creation and update of detailed documentation for the operation / support of programs / applications by end users and support staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Problem solving and analytical skills
- Familiarity with IT service management tools and incident tracking systems will be advantageous.
- An understanding of security best practices and data privacy is essential in our IT landscape.
- Willingness to be part of a dynamic and fast-paced team environment.
