HJA Accountants located in Adelaide is now seeking a full-time Junior Taxation Accountant to join our team.
Duties of this position will include:
- Preparing company and client tax forms and data while offering tax accounting advice to both individual and business clients;
- Computing taxes owed and preparing annual tax return and BAS for business entities, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements;
- Assisting with preparing annual financial reports, including meeting deadlines and ensuring all financial practices and records comply with accepted accounting standards;
- Maintaining taxation records and preparing accounts and management information for clients;
- Coordinating audits by ATO and clients' accountants/auditors;
- Researching and correcting process errors that caused incorrect tax filings. Representig the clients to negotiating with ATO over tax issues;
- Developing strong relationships with clients, including understanding their business practices and specific tax information needs;
- Providing tax advice on clients' business activities, such as purchase and sale of businesses, new projects, mergers and acquisitions;
- Providing tax advice and assistance in reasonable tax evasion and early warning of any illegal tax evasion to avoid potential penalties and legal liability;
- Maintaining and updating working knowledge of tax laws and regulations, including new filing practices, deadlines, and any company-specific information.
The ideal candidate must have:
- Bachelor or higher qualification in Accounting;
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations;
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals;
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and tax software;
- Excellent communication skills, bilingual background preferred.
