About the role ...
We are looking for a diligent and hard working Kitchen Assistant to support our busy team as they strive to prepare appetizing and nutritious food for older person's living in our Residential Aged Care facility and relying on our MiMeals service. The Kitchen Assistant will be responsible for:
- keeping food preparation areas clean.
- cleaning kitchen equipment and appliances.
- cleaning benchtops, floors, ovens and ranges.
- receiving, lifting, handling and storing food deliveries.
- retrieving food items as requested by chefs.
- washing dishes, pots and utensils.
The role is pivotal in assisting with the effective and efficient overall operations of the kitchen. The successful incumbent will maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen, they will take part in accreditation, OH&S, infection control programs within the kitchen with a specific focus on the needs of the customer. Experience in a similar position would be advantageous.
About you ...
You will have strong interpersonal skills and good communication abilities. You will have a flexible, caring, patient attitude and a preparedness to work to the 10 principles of the Eden Alternative philosophy.
Qualifications
- Certificate in Food handling/ Food Safety preferred
Skills:
- An ability to work independently and in a team environment, exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate information and in a timely fashion
- Ability to follow directions in accordance with Health Regulations and the Food Safety Act
- The ability to work systematically and hygienically
- The ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner with an ethno-specific environment
- Good verbal, reading and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail with all tasks.
- Food handling experience preferred but not essential
A police check with no disclosable outcome, medicare evidence of current flu vaccination and a COVID-19 vaccination, including dose 3 is required by MiCare for this position.
A commitment to work exclusively with MiCare Residential Aged Care facility as your only employer during COVID-19 will be highly regarded.
