The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to join our passionate kitchen team as a Kitchen Hand on a casual basis, creating fresh and exciting dishes for our popular all-day cafe. The cafe is a key experience in our iconic tourism destination located on 40 acres of landscaped grounds and orchards in the Yarra Valley, 15 minutes from Lilydale.
Our striking Chocolaterie is set on 40 acres of landscaped grounds, 15 minutes from Lilydale in the stunning Yarra Valley. We have our own orchard, lawn areas and kitchen garden, welcoming 15,000 visitors each week.
The Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery is a tourism venue created out of passion. Our personal service and high-quality standards, amazing festivals and ever-growing product range make locals and travellers alike keen to return time and time again.
The cafe, which opens 7 days per week from 9am to 5pm, plays an important role in the success of the business alongside a showroom, showcasing over 400 different chocolate products, couverture chocolate production on site and an in-house ice creamery.

You’ll work with a close-knit team, who are some of the best in the industry, creating wonderful culinary experiences and memories for thousands of visitors each week.
Your Role
To be successful in this role, you must be able to demonstrate experience of at least 2 years working hands on under pressure in a fast-paced cafe kitchen or restaurant kitchen.
You will need an eye for detail and a commitment to exceptional customer service. You will be well organised.
This is a casual position of minimum 30 hours per week including most weekends and public holidays and may lead to a permanent full-time position. Excellent remuneration for the right candidate.
Task & Responsibilities
Key tasks and responsibilities are:
- Under the direction of experienced Chefs assisting in producing nutritious, high quality, well prepared, well presented, and enjoyable food for our customers.
- Support the dishwashing team as required.
- Ensure the quality of raw materials are to the Chocolaterie standards.
- Ensuring operation of kitchen equipment under your control follows occupational health and safety standards.
- Adhere to all food handling and cleaning practices relating to food hygiene, preparation, storage, and disposal.
- Control and record all wastage.
About the Company
Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery is family owned and has been operating since 2012. We also have established and manage 2 other Chocolateries in Victoria on the Surf Coast near Torquay and the Mornington Peninsula in the seaside village of Flinders.
The Chocolateries are tourism ventures and combined welcome 1.5 million visitors each year.
