The roles, responsibilities and duties of a Security Officer can be performed in many different sectors and varying roles. This Position Description outlines the general duties in line with specific role types and acts as a guide rather than a comprehensive list of tasks.

Role requirements:

• Patrols of busy university campus both on foot and by e-bike
• Identification and correction of security risks
• Effective radio communications
• Detailed and accurate incident reporting
• Effective incident response and management
• Building patrols including integrity checks
• Customer service - responding professionally to stakeholder enquiries
• Visibility and deterrence
• Assisting with control room operations
• Alarm monitoring and response
• Preservation of student safety
• Crowd control and event supervision
• Well presented at all times
• Effective communication skills
• Responding to client queries and complaints
• Escalation of complaints to the appropriate manager
• Any other task as directed by a supervisor or manager
