As well, ECU has a collaboration with the Great Southern Universities Centre, based in Albany.The diverse and talented staff in the Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) play a central role in achieving ECU's vision, and in designing and implementing future-oriented teaching and learning strategies. With its base at the Joondalup Campus, the CLT delivers a comprehensive suite of services and programmes on campus.The Learning Support team forms part of the CLT and focuses on enhancing student success and preparedness for university. The team supports all ECU students to transition into university successfully and progress throughout their study, including enabling, undergraduate, postgraduate, and HDR programs. The team adopts a strength-based perspective to student development in these programs through delivering communication skills activities both within and outside of the curriculum.The Role
The Learning Adviser based in Albany plays an important role in supporting local students develop academic and study skills. This support is provided through the provision of face-to-face and online appointments, group workshops, and drop-in sessions. Prioritising the needs of ECU’s diverse cohort in regional areas, the role provides a student-focused, efficient service, aimed at improving student retention and progression. In addition to these duties, the Learning Adviser collaborates with the Learning Support and Regional Futures teams to promote ECU services, contribute to local community engagement where appropriate, respond to student queries, and redirect students to other support services when needed.ECU has a commitment to improving the communication skills of all students. The broad focus of this position and the Learning Support team is to assist students undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate studies in a range of disciplines to develop their academic communication skills. The Learning Adviser is required to have an ability to use a range of delivery modes and technologies, both face-to-face and online, to enhance these skills for coursework students.This is primarily a home-based work role providing online support to current ECU students, but successful applicants must be based in Albany to deliver in-person learning support in collaboration with the regional futures team at the Great Southern Universities Centre as required. The role will require flexibility to schedule working hours to suit the needs of regional students.Selection Criteria
The successful applicants will possess the following capabilities:
  • A graduate qualification or progression towards a higher degree in Education and subsequent relevant teaching experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Demonstrated ability to support student skills development, including academic communication, numeracy, and study skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience supporting people of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • A highly collaborative approach with a record of having achieved significant goals through teamwork.

This 6 month full time fixed-term role attracts a salary of $97,113 to $108,813 pa plus 17% superannuation.ECU supports a work/life balance for staff.
