About the opportunity
4Cyte Pathology is seeking Casual Laboratory Assistant to join our Specimen Reception Area to work as part of a rotating roster. The preferred candidate must have access to transportation to be able to meet the rostering requirements.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Unpacking/ packing and labelling of specimens
- Answering phone calls, faxing/ calling medical centres
- Accurately transcribing and interpreting patient and pathology request details into corresponding fields within the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Maintaining data entry requirements by following relevant SOPs and completing Competency Assessments.
- Verifying entered patient and request details by reviewing.
- Updating existing patient records.
- Performs Medicare checks when patient information is mismatching between Lab information system and request form.
- Handling queries relating to data entry in a timely and professional manner.
Key Requirements:
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent data entry skills including high attention to detail, accuracy and quick typing skills (minimum typing speed: 40 wpm with 95% accuracy), knowledge of touch typing is mandatory.
- An outstanding work ethic and ability to work autonomously and as part of a team to achieve and maintain our commitment to service excellence and patient care.
- Knowledge of grammar and punctuation.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritise and work to time constraints.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Must be available to work as part of a 7 days rotating roster.

- Enthusiastic and energetic attitude toward work.
- Strong computer literacy, experience using Ultra highly desirable, but not required.
- Recent Medical Science graduates and Medical Typist are encouraged to apply.
