Laboratory Production Scientist
Australian Scientific Enterprise (ASE) is a leading manufacturer of clinical pathology diagnostic products. Our primary products are Quality Control (QC) and External Quality Assurance (EQA) materials which are manufactured for pathology laboratories worldwide. We also perform contract manufacturing and lyophilisation of novel products and other custom materials. ASE invests significantly in research and development for both in vitro diagnostics (IVDs) and contract work.
The RoleWe are seeking a scientist or qualified individual to join our team and be trained in the production of pathology quality control (QC) materials to meet the demands of the local and global pathology laboratories. This role:
* entails the project coordination, Laboratory Production, and post-production testing of quality control materials.

This is a full-time, permanent role in Hornsby, NSW.
Normal work hours are Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesProduction of quality control materials for pathology laboratories including activities such as;
- Laboratory Production: Utilising skills such as blood fractionation, high-precision pipetting, analytical balance use, pH adjustment.
- Post-Production Testing: Using of a wide range of laboratory instrumentation including chemistry, coagulation, blood gas, and point-of-care analysers.
- Project Coordination: Managing projects from contract receipt, liaising with customers and suppliers, ordering materials, printing labels, labelling vials, production, post-production testing to goods pack up.
- Being Proactive: Being a proactive contributor to all aspects of the business and continuous improvement.
Also included in the role is exposure to product research & development, including literature review, pilot work, and transfer to production. Progression is strongly supported for high performers.
The CandidateWe are looking for a dedicated individual who is eager to learn, outcome-focused and passionate about their work. The successful candidate will possess the following skills, qualifications, and attributes:
- Enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and attention to detail.
- Tertiary certification in Biomedical Science or a science-related field.
- An interest in manufacturing and developing novel calibrators and pathology QC.
Experience in a multi-disciplinary pathology laboratory would be highly regarded. Other practical laboratory experience would also be beneficial.
