CLIENT
Our client is a well-respected Global Lubricants manufacturing company located in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. They hold several accreditations including IATF 16949. Their product range is varied and incorporates lubricating oils and related specialties for virtually all areas of application and sectors.
THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their Quality Control Laboratory. This is a full-time role initially offered on a 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension.
Working knowledge of general wet chemistry will be highly regarded. We are especially interested in candidates who are hard-working, dependable, and demonstrate initiative and loyalty. The successful candidate will receive full training.
The training period usually occurs for 1–3 months, during which working hours are 6:30am to 2:30pm, Monday–Friday. Subsequently, once training is deemed complete, a rotating-shift roster will commence: -
- 2 Weeks – 6:00am to 2:00pm, Monday–Friday
- 2 Weeks – 2:00pm to 10:00pm, Monday–Friday
An applicable loading will apply for the hours worked during each afternoon shift.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Our client is seeking an individual with a genuine interest in working within a laboratory setting. The primary responsibilities include:
- Routine sample preparation.
- Loading samples into instruments.
- Accurately entering results.
- Ensuring the cleanliness of R&D reaction vessels.
- Maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Following WH&S guidelines.
- Must have full work rights and a drivers licence and car.
SELECTION CRITERIA
To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:
- A Diploma or Cert IV in Chemistry with a few years experience within a laboratory or a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry or similar
- Experience with wet chemistry
- Ability to follow WH&S guidelines
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and a flexible "can do" attitude
- You will possess excellent time management skills, attention to detail and a strong ability to multi-task
- Key to this role will strong work ethic, and initiative whilst working autonomously or as part of a team
