About the role
Emeritus Research is growing so we are looking for a dynamic Lab Technician with great attention to detail to handle, process, store and ship biological samples with exacting quality standards. Our Lab Techs also independently manage and bring trailblazing ideas to problem solve individual portfolios and financially contribute to the teams success.
To help grow our business and make our vision a reality, we need our Lab Tech to:
- Contribute to on-site testing by conducting, reporting and validating results and overseeing the storage of on-site data
- Correctly identify, track, and process samples and kits received in the lab making sure all associated documentation and labelling is an exact match and respond to queries relating to specimen identification and tracking
- Apply quality control techniques to the day-to-day laboratory processes guaranteeing the safety of all staff and trial participants
- Create and monitor the daily schedule for bookings and kits to ensure smooth lab operations and the shipping schedule for courier bookings - being flexible for changes
- Keep the lab and equipment sterilised and spotlessly clean, storage fridges, incubator and batteries at optimal operation and lab checklists up to date.
- Manage and order stock levels of general laboratory supplies and track study lab kits to ensure consistent inventory
- Effectively communicate between multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with your Lab Team Leader to find the best resolutions and ensure optimal lab operations
- Ensure safe shipping of all samples through careful coordination of both daily and batch shipment of samples with appropriate documentation with couriers
- Responsibly participate in laboratory training and inductions to assist with onboarding new staff members and help colleagues remain aware and comply with the work, health and safety policies
- Be knowledgeable with Microsoft Office programs and be highly accurate and efficient with data entry

Whether you have experience already or you are a graduate, we’d love to hear from you
- Diploma or tertiary qualifications in a relevant field
- Experience with processing human biological sample for pathology
- Previous laboratory skills (centrifuging, aliquoting, sample packing and shipping)
- Accurate and clear written and oral communication
- Excellent data entry skills including high attention to detail and accuracy
- Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or appropriate work visa
