Laboratory Tester – Permanent Part Time

Dairy Express is a premier provider of herd testing and management information services to the NSW and Queensland Dairy Farming Industry. 

Our Laboratory at Clyde (Parramatta) NSW is an integral part of delivering our services to the dairy farming industry. At Clyde Laboratory we undertake our milk sample testing for our customers.

Laboratory experience is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided.

Entry Level Position

Permanent Part Time position: Tuesday – Friday

Hours: 9am -3pm. Maybe opportunities for additional hours.

Position Description: A Laboratory Tester carries out tests relating to chemistry and  biology of milk samples.

Main duties

• Calibrate machines
• Receive eskies of milk samples
• Dispatch eskies to field locations
• Prepare samples for testing including solution preparation
• Operate testing machine - fat, protein, lactose, SCC
• Undertake other milk sample testing as required
• Check sample results for accuracy and advise manager of concerns
• Check for successful transmission of results to Armidale
• Decide in conjunction with manager which samples to retest
• Dispose of waste milk
• Reloading of preservatives to sample bottles
• Packing sample boxes with bottles
• General laboratory duties - cleaning the area & operation of cleaning and reload machines

Essential Skills

• Punctual
• Attention to detail
• Computer literate including Excel & Word
• Good communication
• Follow processes with accuracy

Desirable Skills/Attributes

• Laboratory Experience
• Schooling to HSC equivalent level or higher
• Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques
