For a wind farm project to become a success it is crucial that the landowners and WestWind Energy work together collaboratively and harmoniously. We follow a very thorough and detailed process when developing a wind farm, to ensure project viability and to generate the best possible result for the community, including landholders.

Landholder relationships and securing Land Tenure is fundamental for the successful development of renewable energy infrastructure. This role will play an integral part of the team through the negotiations and securing of Land Tenure contracts for wind farm infrastructure and electricity easements.

Our landholder relationships are key to our success and the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate experience in establishing rapport and maintaining positive relationships that facilitate constructive negotiations and signing of tenure agreements for our project.

We are a small business doing big things and work closely and collaboratively together. This role will work hand in glove with the development team and will have career opportunities throughout the WestWind business. The role will require approximately 75% travel in regional Australia, specifically across Western Victoria, QLD and NSW.

TASKS AND ACTIVITIES

  • Work collaboratively as part of a small team.
  • Implement Land Tenure processes and strategies. 
  • Pull land titles and identify ownership and contact information for owners of land for powerline easements and wind farm project infrastructure.
  • Maintain Land Tenure data
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key external stakeholders including land owners /occupiers, and near neighbours.
  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders to ensure timely land access for project developments.
  • Ensure that WestWind Energy’s core values are demonstrated in all dealings with the community and key stakeholders.
  • Negotiate and execute commercial agreements to acquire Land Tenure (easement, leasehold, license, freehold, other) agreements. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Basic understanding of agri-business and infrastructure scale development
  • Ability to read and understand contracts.
  • Open Driver's license
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in sales, land access, community engagement, or hospitality.
  • Presentation skills and working knowledge of Powerpoint
  • Ability to read and present maps and navigate in regional areas
  • Able to identify landholders and their contact details and addresses
  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision
  • High standard of written and verbal communications
  • Can-do solution focused attitude
  • Ability to work in a high paced environment and to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical people, 
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence, and ability to establish rapport to build relationships with land holders, consultants, community members and other stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, statutory authorities and local government
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic GIS system experience desirable but not required.
  • Demonstrated use of initiative

Please note that WestWind provides the flexibility to work from a home office, but extensive travel to sites is an inherent requirement of this role.
