Law Clerk
Osborn Law is committed assisting emerging lawyers develop and progress in their legal careers. We are looking to engage a highly motivated and passionate student currently completing their final year of study. The role will be 2 days per week (with some flexibility on days, as well as spreading hours over a third day to fit Uni timetable) working primarily with our highly experienced and energetic commercial team. The role will also give the candidate exposure and experience working with members of our employment, commercial litigation and estate planning teams on various projects.
The Role
- Working closely with our lawyers on various research tasks.
- Developing succinct written advice skills.
- Reviewing commercial contracts and learning to identify elements of risk exposure for our clients.
- Drafting commercial contracts and developing ability to obtain relevant client instructions.
- Communicating with other lawyers, agents and government bodies.
- Assisting lawyers to meet deadlines.
- Learning the practical elements of client engagement, file management and time recording.
- Having direct and regular access to senior lawyers to obtain vital on the job training and mentoring.
The ideal candidate will:
- be a team player;
- have a sound understanding of Microsoft applications;
- be enthusiastic to develop skills through self-guided research as well as peer mentoring;
- have an ability to manage multiple expectations/delegations;
- be someone who can work under pressure to meet deadlines;
- have a keen eye for detail; and

The office has a hard-working but fun vibe! Most mornings, there is a coffee walk but the coffee machine is also available. Our director Tim, will share his ‘dad joke of the day’. We often lunch together on Fridays and take turns in choosing where we go! We celebrate many major events – we have an Easter morning tea, a Christmas morning tea, Cancer Council biggest morning tea ‘Bake off’, Secret Santa gift exchange, Melbourne Cup function and end of financial year and Christmas celebrations with partners invited. We also invite the families along to some occasions, such as recently when we celebrated a Friday night at Rippit Golf.
