The Judicial Commission is an independent statutory body established in Victoria. Its primary function is to enhance the effectiveness and integrity of the judiciary. It achieves this by investigating complaints made against judicial officers and making recommendations for their improvement or removal if necessary. The Commission also provides education, training, and advice to judicial officers to uphold high standards of judicial conduct and ensure public confidence in the administration of justice. Additionally, it conducts research and promotes public understanding of the role and responsibilities of the judiciary in Victoria.
About the role
The Lawyer is responsible for investigating complaints and providing confidential, high-quality legal advice to the Board of the Commission. The role works closely with the Director and Manager, Legal & Complaints to support preparation of Board papers, investigation reports, and policy development as well as unique legal research. The role involves liaison with complainants and court staff to support complaint investigations.
About you
- You will have 3+ years legal experience, preferably with a litigation, regulatory or administrative law background including court or tribunal experience.
- Excellent written communication skills.
