Job description

Lead Counselor / Team Leader

  • 40 years supporting vulnerable youth and their families in Sydney’s West 
  • Seeking an experienced masters qualified Lead Counselor / team leader 

Bridging the Gap Sydney West has been supporting children, youth and families in our local community for over 40 years. 

With a mission to serve and build hope in those who are struggling, we have built a reputation as a professional and caring team that is making a real difference to the lives of those we serve.  Our mission and lived values are consistent with us being a Christian faith community. 

Our counseling team focuses on, and is Department of Community & Justice (DCJ) funded for, targeted earlier intervention (TEI) for children and young people at risk of disengagement from school, family and community. 

Our counseling services are located in St Marys where we currently take bookings for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9am and 7pm.  The work hours of this role are negotiable. 

About you: 

  • Masters degree in Counseling or similar (essential) 
  • Current registration currency with ACA, CCAA, PACFA, or similar (essential) 
  • ACA Level 3 or similar (preferred) 
  • Experience in adolescent &/or family counselling (at least 2 years essential, greater preferred) 
  • Experience working across a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, gender identity, neurodiversity, family relationships, domestic violence, parental drug and alcohol misuse, parenting skills, school and learning difficulties (preferred) 
  • Knowledge of current child protection, work health & safety and privacy legislation (essential) 
  • Excellent organisational skills (essential) 
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment (essential) 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (essential) 
  • Capable with technology - Client Management Systems, Word, Excel, and Outlook (essential) 
  • Can demonstrate a value for Christian faith community. 

The successful candidate will need to provide current Working with Children Check, Police Check, and NDIS worker clearances.
