In addition, we have a generous superannuation scheme and an employee-driven Social Club to get you amongst the action!About your new role In this role you will lead the Data Science team within the City’s Performance and Analytics business unit and be responsible for driving knowledge and insights to mature and enhance data science capabilities of the performance and analytics service. The position will be responsible for providing assistance in solving business problems through innovative technical solutions, providing data insights by employing an evidence-based approach in line with best practice data science methodologies and standards.A key focus of this role will be the delivery of high-value data insights, from large structured or unstructured data, and with the use of data science tools and data coding, deliver continued improvements and automation to support service improvements and achieve common goals.You will collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders that includes Experience Gold Coast (EGC), Gold Coast Airport, Home of the Arts (HOTA) to provide data with meaningful and valuable insights.(For more detailed information please see attached Position Brief)About You5+ years of relevant work experience in data science, advanced analytics and/or deep learning in an enterprise grad MLOps setting.Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R with extensive experience in modernised data science platform. An understanding of object oriented programming is desirable.Strong knowledge or skills with CI/CD (e.g. Git, Gitlab, Jenkins, Bitbucket, etc).Advanced SQL skills and experience with relational databases and database design.Strong foundation in using statistical methods to analyse data and draw actionable insights.Demonstratable expertise in data science domains, such as Machine Learning, advanced analytics and modelling, Deep Learning, modern NLP (including applications of transfer learning), image processing or object detection.Experience with current machine learning and advanced modelling techniques and algorithms.Experience working with cloud Data Warehouse solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure, etc.) and a working knowledge of Cloud-based solutions (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP).Strong leadership and team management skills are essential in guiding the data science team effectively.Effective communication skills in translating complex data findings into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders. The ability to present findings in a clear and compelling manner through reports, presentations, and data storytelling.Have a strategic mindset and the ability to align data initiatives with the City's Insights Driven Organisation Plan.Ability to identify opportunities for data-driven improvements and contribute to the overall strategic vision.Strong problem-solving skills in identifying key issues and proposing data-driven solutions in line with best practice data science standards.Focused on achieving tangible results that contribute to maturing the city's capability into becoming an Insights Driven Organisation.Provide expert advice, direction and leadership to the data science team, adhering to the City’s high-performance principles.How to apply for this roleFor more information about this role, please view the attached position brief.
