Hours: Full Time - Part-time 30 hours negotiable for both roles

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Chronic Disease Management Plans and Health Assessments
  • Assist and support the GPs in treatment room procedures including skin procedures
  • Treatment room tasks including emergencies, triage, wound management and immunisations- children and adults.
  • Infection control
  • Ear Syringe 
  • Patient Recalls & Reminders
  • Maintain accreditation standards in support with the nursing team & Practice Manager
  • Order stock, samples and supplies
  • Consulting room stock management and supply
  • AIR notification
  • Use the Pencat and Cubiko tools to assist with developing chronic disease management and quality improvement projects
  • Provide other clinical services as required in the Treatment Room 
  • Provide other administration services as required.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse division 1 with a current practicing certificate of registration with AHPRA

  • Nurse immuniser certificate

 Desirable Criteria:

  • Medical software knowledge – Best Practice an advantage
  • Cubiko knowledge
  • PenCat knowledge
  • Current CPR certificate
  • Nurse Immuniser
  • Ear Syringe certification
  • Qualified in cannulation
  • Flexibility to cover staff leave

Additional Requirements for Lead Practice Nurse Position

  • Assist with achieving nursing budgets including managing stock control
  • Creation of nurse rosters
  • HR duties – Professional development reviews, recruitment of nursing staff
  • At times may be required to assist in the practice with appointments
  • Ordering of stock, samples and supplies
  • Room stock management and supply
  • AIR notification
  • Use the Pencat/Cubiko tools to assist with running the Chronic Disease Management Clinics
  • Provide other services as required to support the development of the Treatment Room, Nurse Room, CDM Clinic
  • Assist with training new and existing staff members
  • Set and manage KPIs for the nursing team 
  • Responsible for QI projects for the nursing team and work with the PM and Practice Principals
  • Participate in Quality Improvement activities and assist with achieving these goals
  • Adhere to all company policy and procedures in relation to quality control completion of duties, privacy, accreditation and government legislation requirements.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to all patients and HCPs of the practice
  • Respond to telephone enquiries
  • Actively promote the services of the practice to patients and prospective clientele
  • Build effective patient relationships
  • Provide high quality clinical practice nursing services
  • Triage/first aid assistance with emergency procedures
  • Acute assessment of sick patients
  • Pathology collection/ECG tracing
  • Injections – medication administration
  • Suture/Staple removal
  • Assistance with minor procedures including but not limited to iron infusions, IUD insertions, hormone implants, implanons in & out and skin procedures
  • Wound management
  • Ensure safe working practices and obligations, as per the clinic WHS policy and procedures for all personnel on site, including visitors are adhered to in order to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Report all incidents, accidents or injuries within 24 hours to management using the appropriate incident reporting procedures.
  • Report all Hazards identified with your work processes or working area using the appropriate Hazard report procedure.
  • Use appropriate infection control measures in day to day activities and the cleaning of any equipment.
  • Experience in a leadership role as a senior registered nurse in a general practice
  • Experience in leading and developing teams
  • Experience in management of Chronic Disease Clinics
  • Manage time, resources, tasks and competing priorities
  • Provide other services as required to support the administration of the practice.
  • Assist clinic to reach WIP/PIP/PNIP targets. 

Remuneration above award rates in accordance with experience and qualifications.

Northside Clinic is situated in Fitzroy North, close to public transport and off street parking available.  Applicants from culturally and gender diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Clinic hours are 8:30am - 6pm Monday - Friday and 9am-12pm Saturdays.
