We are looking for a Lead Software Developer to join our high-performing team, in a full-time role. This position is fully remote and open to candidates anywhere within Australia.
About the role
This role is responsible for development activities as well as leading the daily activities of our small team, ensuring the team is effectively managed and well trained. In addition, this role will provide guidance in terms of best practices and compliance of software development standards.
You will lead the development team to take projects from requirements determination through to scope, design, build and unit testing, and production. In addition you will work with our leadership team to develop our product direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical development and project delivery in a multi-site environment across different time zones and geographies
- Work with our leadership team to develop our product direction
- Guide the development team through our projects, from requirements determination through to scope, design, build and unit testing
- Provide guidance in terms of best practices and compliance of software development standards
- Overseeing the welfare and development of all employees and ensuring a safe working environment for all
- Work with senior management to develop our product direction
- Attend and contribute to customer and partner requirement gathering meetings where technical input is required
- Become a subject matter expert and technical lead in key nominated areas of our systems
- Test and review code for technical accuracy, security standards, and functional compliance.
- Undertake hands-on development in an agile environment, ensuring that code is robust and easy to read and maintain
- Undertake performance and scalability improvements and refactoring of legacy code
- Research and development of new and emerging cloud hosting technologies for our products
- Assist with the organizing and deployment of new releases to hosting environments
- Provide hands-on support to tasks and escalated support issues relating to the operations of hosting infrastructure to ensure Case Manager SLA’s are maintained
- Act as the team coach and mentor, and motivate and encourage team members through positive communication and performance feedback
- Undertake duties such as performance reviews, promote team member personal development, and participate in the recruitment of top talent for the team.
- Work closely with the IT Manager on internal organizational IT strategies
Knowledge and Skills
- Degree qualification (or equivalent) in Computer Systems/Software Development or similar discipline
- A minimum of 8 years experience in a software development role
- Prior experience as a development team lead or supervisor
- Sound technical knowledge – specifically in the .NET stack including C# or VB.NET, T-SQL/SQL Server and HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
- Web technology knowledge – HTML/CSS/JavaScript. Advantageous is knowledge of SPA frameworks, e.g., Angular.
- Experience in cloud hosting technologies advantageous (e.g. AWS/Azure)
- Network administration skills using Microsoft operating systems advantageous
- Proven experience of managing multiple conflicting priorities to meet strategic deadlines
- Scrum master experience desirable
- High ability to develop technical knowledge and a focus on self-development required
Knowledge of the following is essential:-
- Excellent knowledge of Object Orientated Programming, Cloud, Micro Services.
- Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases
- Excellent knowledge of modern IDEs
- Excellent knowledge of version control software
- Excellent knowledge of development best practices
