Job description

Melbourne Girls Grammar is seeking to appoint a dedicated and highly skilled Learning Assistant to join the Junior Years Campus (Prep – 4) in an ongoing capacity from Term 3 2024.

The Junior Years Program at MGGS integrates academic learning with social development, positive relationships, and an understanding of personal responsibility. Our curriculum is rich and diverse with a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy, developing fundamental skills for life. Our Learning Studios are flexible, learning spaces designed for the 21st century learner.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Junior Years and Early Learning, you will support teaching staff and participate in activities that enhance the academic and social development of students in both indoor and outdoor learning environments.

Key responsibilities include supporting specific learning needs in main and cross-curricular subject areas, seeking opportunities to assist in building independent organisational strategies and encouraging independence. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with academic teaching staff and parents to develop personalised learning plans and student support strategies. Qualifications and experience in education support, early learning experience and special/gifted education support are highly regarded. Essential attributes include excellent interpersonal communication skills, a passion for learning and the ability to maintain positive relationships.

The notebook computer and our LMS are an integral part of the teaching and learning process at our School and it is expected teaching and learning will incorporate their use along with other technologies available to you. Knowledge and implementation of a variety of online and multimedia programs to support student learning is critical.
