The Opportunity:
With a large environmental footprint comes the social responsibility to ensure they are caring for the spaces they use. They’ve put together a sustainability plan to make the organisation more effective and now need someone to own and drive the change in order to deliver the plan. You’ll be working with a range of teams across the entirety of their organisation (e.g. corporate offices, high schools, primary schools, early education centres, community centres and more) to drive green performance and deliver according to schedule.
This is a permanent and full-time position, based in their Newcastle West office and will require engagement across the portfolio of sites.
You will be responsible for:
- Effectively communicate with stakeholders, including senior leaders, staff, and regulatory authorities.
- Development planning to achieve sustainability targets that lead to savings, operational efficiencies and implemented solutions.
- Deliver a portfolio of environmental programs and projects related to the sustainability plan, including carbon neutrality, renewable energy.
- Monitoring, report and improve on annual performance from available data, as well as provide advice on compliance.
- Manage external partners including sustainability consultants and contractors involved on projects.
- Effectively manage the sustainability budget, including sourcing funding, through the achievement of savings from the above.
- Qualification or equivalent experience in corporate sustainability.
- High-level project management, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and development and building standards
- Knowledge of sustainable technologies, initiatives, water management, resource recovery, and biodiversity.
- Understanding of change management to correct behaviours towards sustainable practices.
- Understanding of staff and stakeholder engagement in sustainability programs.
