Covering an expansive geographical area which includes the Central Coast, Sydney’s Northern Beaches and North Shore, Catholic Schools Broken Bay is a system serving 45 Catholic Schools with around 17,000 students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

About The Role

The role of the Student Wellbeing Partner is to provide expert professional advice, consultation, and case management support to Broken Bay systemic school leadership teams, that builds their capacity to support students with complex behaviour, social emotional, and mental health difficulties.

The role supports schools to implement whole school evidence-based practices that maximise student wellbeing and learning outcomes.

 This is  a permanent full-time position based at our office in Pennant Hills. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides subject matter expertise and professional judgement in case management support to school leadership teams that supports students with complex behaviour or mental health difficulties that can pose significant risk
  • Provides advice on cognitive, emotional, and behavioural assessments, mental health screeners, and referrals to and liaison with outside agencies
  • Collaborates with school leaders and Safeguarding professionals to appropriately mitigate and manage child safeguarding concerns
  • Leads and/or participates in case management teams, liaising with school, internal professional staff and external health professionals
  • Provides targeted professional learning and coaching to contribute to building the capacity of school staff in supporting and managing student mental health, behaviour and wellbeing
  • Coaches and supports school leaders and teachers in the application and implementation of wellbeing related whole school frameworks such as School-wide Positive Behaviour for Learning and Be You

About You

  • Supportive of, or can demonstrate an understanding and commitment to, the ethos of the Catholic faith in an educational context
  • Strong working understanding of current research and practice in the field of children and adolescent mental health, wellbeing, and education 
  • Knowledge of legislation pertaining to school student management (e.g. Disability Discrimination Act, Disability Standards for Education, Child Protection, Part 5A of the Education Act 1990) 
  • Highly skilled professional with experience in counselling children and young people using evidence-based interventions or has held a pastoral care/wellbeing role in a school
  • Can assist with school enrolment and transition support of students with complex behaviour and/or mental health difficulties
  • Evidence of effectively leading a successful improvement initiative that improved client/student outcomes
  • Experience in using evidence and data analysis to inform best practice initiatives
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex initiatives and own workload to see initiatives through to successful implementation
  • Can demonstrate professional standards in alliance to registration boards and associations such as Australian Psychological Society (if relevant) 
  • Experience in the administration of cognitive, emotional, and behavioural assessments and mental health screeners (if relevant) 

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work or Psychology or equivalent experience
  • Membership of AHPRA or AASW
  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Current and valid NSW Driver’s Licence
