Responsibilities & Duties include:
- Preparing and conducting lectures/seminars and workshops/tutorials and relevant learning and assessment materials/activities in line with accredited subject outlines with up-to-date understandings of the field of Early Childhood Education.
- Manage assessment grading and administration, including the provision of quality feedback to improve student learning and performance
- Communicate regularly with the Course Coordinator and other staff within the institute to maintain a team environment and consistency in resourcing and delivery strategies.
- In consultation with the Course Coordinator and other teaching staff, implement strategies to support and retain students who are experiencing difficulties with course content.
- Develop, maintain and evaluate student learning programs and associated subject materials relevant to teaching activity.
- Contribute to the administration of the course and teaching programs by maintaining class attendance rolls.
- Complete assessments and provide academic results in a timely manner.
- Maintain currency of the delivery and assessment material.
- Coordinate the delivery with other staff in situations where there are more than one academic delivering a subject.
- Continually develop your own teaching methods and practices to apply high quality, innovative learning techniques to create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students.
- Participating in practice area teams to maintain and develop course materials.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information
- Attend and participate in orientation/induction and other course team meetings.
- Including the provision of quality feedback to improve student learning and performance.
Selection Criteria
The successful applicant will have the following attributes:
- Minimum of a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field
- A PhD degree in the field would be highly appreciated.
- A minimum of two years' experience in a similar role.
- Capacity to deliver contemporary, research informed learning, teaching and assessment principles across a broad range of subjects in the field of Early Childhood Education, including professional placement.
- Proven ability to contribute to contemporary scholarship and education design relevant to Early Childhood Education.
- Strong industry background and registration with ACECQA.
- Ability to relate to staff and students from diverse backgrounds and to represent SCEI-HE to external stakeholders and the general public.
- Demonstrated ability to perform administrative duties relevant to the higher education environments.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to foster a scholarly and cooperative teaching and learning environment.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines with demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills.
