Job description

Who we are:
At Torrens University Australia, making a difference is in our DNA. As a Certified B Corporation, we belong to a global community of future-focused companies using business as a force for good. We believe in the transformative power of education to change lives, families, communities – and the world. That’s why we’re on a mission to increase access to higher education, so learners from all walks of life can chase their dreams.
A progressive university, we ground our studies in industry. Expert academics bring their insights into the classroom, with a range of assessment types that aim to be authentic and informed by industry needs. Bridging the gap between study and work, our educators prepare students for career success and connect them with future employers. Building relevant skills, experience and networks from day one, students don’t just learn about their industry, they live it.
What’s the job?
We are recruiting for a Casual Lecturer in Games and Graphics programming. We are looking for someone to start in May 2024 who can commit to 1 or 2 classes, which roughly equates to a commitment of 18 hours per week (including teaching, marking, prep, student support etc.). The role will primarily be online but being available to teach classes in-person on our Ultimo campus is considered a plus.
The classes we need taught are the following:
- Introduction to 3D Graphics
- 3D Graphics Programming
As a Casual Lecturer, you will be responsible for preparing, delivering, and assessing subjects to ensure students are provided with the best opportunity to attain learning outcomes. Other key tasks include student support and administrative duties associated with running a class.
You will be responsible for:
  • Delivering lectures and workshops online via our Learning Management System
  • Maintaining curriculum and course materials
  • Grading student work and providing timely, constructive feedback
  • Monitoring student progress and well-being, providing support where necessary
Who you are:
Ideally, we’d love you to have previous experience teaching in the higher education sector, with a minimum master’s degree qualification or equivalent industry experience.
We’re looking for applicants with high level proficiency in WebGL based graphics programming, with demonstrated experience with C# and/or C++, rendering pipelines, shaders, transformations, texturing, and lighting. Experience with general game programming, including physics, AI, and networking, is a plus but not essential, as is proficiency with Unity and/or Unreal.
Why join us?
