Job description

At Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT, our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory. We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health.
Our postgraduate education pathway and localised context education sessions (Remote Health Practice program), provides workforce development through Indigenous health and clinical skills training, and have a community driven research program led by researchers committed to improving health outcomes. We work alongside Poche SA+NT focussing on Indigenous leadership capacity development and developing the Indigenous health workforce. All activities are driven by our values which focus on the long-term and short-term needs of the NT communities.
About the Role
The Lecturer will contribute to quality research and the planning and delivery of topics within the suite of courses in IndigenousKnowledges and Culture. This includes the development of teaching materials, delivery of lectures/tutorials, examinations, and placement education. The incumbent will also strengthen and explore partnerships with external stakeholders that have potential for providing improved teaching, learning and research outcomes for the University.

About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is recognised as such by an appropriate Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander body, preferably within the Katherine region.
  • Completion of a PhD, or equivalent qualification with experience in some branch of Indigenous studies/education
  • Evidence of community recognition of Indigenous Knowledges and practices
  • Independent innovation in learning, teaching and research activities in areas of Indigenous health issues, cultural safety, justice reinvestment and primary health care and population health
  • Strong research background in an area aligned with research strengths including evidence of quality publications and attraction of external competitive grants.
