We're proud to be a progressive and open-minded university, delivering the highest student satisfaction in Victoria and consistently ranked in the top 1% of the world's universities.About the roleThe Lecturer will play a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum and creating engaging learning materials for undergraduate psychology units, both online and in traditional face-to-face settings. In addition to teaching responsibilities, this role actively participates in research initiatives contributing to publications and securing funding that aligns with the School of Psychology's core research strengths.We are particularly interested in someone who could unit chair our cognitive neuroscience unit (HPS395) and contribute to our Cognitive Psychology unit (HPS203). This role will suit a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion to make a difference.As a Lecturer you will:
  • Lead unit teaching teams and work collaboratively with other unit teaching teams in the course to develop effective unit curricula and learning resources (including through unit leadership roles).
  • Adopt innovation in curriculum design at the unit level and deliver learner-centric, research-informed teaching practices across different levels / modes of delivery.
  • Support, and potentially lead, applications for research and creative activities, including applications for external funding
  • Build a national reputation, based on a growing, focused body of work recognised for quality, excellence and impact and a growing track record of timely delivery of outcomes for industry partners.
  • Supervise and or examine honours and/or HDR students with timely completions and productive, high-quality outcomes and provide effective mentoring to HDR students to support professional and career development and employability.
To be successful, you'll have:
  • PhD in a relevant discipline and/or professional doctorate or masters in the relevant discipline area
  • Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design
  • Ability to teach cognitive neuroscience and cognitive psychology
  • Emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications and/or success in obtaining external research funding.
  • Ability to contribute to communities through research.
  • Capacity to contribute to leadership of research and administration.
