About This Opportunity

The School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences seeks to appoint an outstanding Lecturer to the field of psychological and/or behavioural science applications to human movement (sport, exercise, human performance). You will work collaboratively within a team of academics to conduct high quality research, deliver quality teaching, and provide service to the profession and the broader community.

As a teaching and research academic at level B, you will be expected to achieve national recognition in your field of research. You will focus your efforts on growing your profile in teaching (including clinical teaching, where appropriate), research, and service and engagement. At this level, you may coordinate or lead the activities of other staff and will usually contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Contributing to the development of new programs and course material.

  • Teaching across different settings and actively contributing towards educational practice and innovative curriculum design.

  • Coordinating courses, preparing and delivering lectures and tutorials and undertaking assessment and marking for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

  • Developing an independent and/or team research program to achieve national recognition and impact in the research area.

  • Working with colleagues and postgraduates in the development and conduct of joint research projects and applications for competitive research funding support.

  • Maintaining an active and effective record of publishing in high quality national research journals.

  • Contributing to the supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students.

  • Involvement in recruitment, selection and onboarding of employees and managing employee performance and conduct.

  • Actively developing partnerships by fostering relationships with colleagues, industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community.

This is a full-time (100%), continuing position. At Academic level B, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,201 - $128,201, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $126,595 - $149,996 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

About You
  • Completion of a PhD in a field relevant to psychology and/or behaviour science related to human movement.

  • A growing profile in teaching and research and/or scholarship of teaching in the discipline area such as psychological and/or behavioural science applications to sport, exercise and/or human performance.

  • A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and conference presentations.

  • Evidence of seeking and/or obtaining and managing external funding for research projects.

  • Evidence of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours, and/or postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.

  • Experience in course coordination and/or contribution to the development and continuous innovation of programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.

  • A growing record of supervision of Honours and/or Higher Degree by Research students.

  • Experience in meaningful academic service roles and active contributions to external engagement activities and with relevant professional associations.
