What’s the job?
We are recruiting for a Casual Lecturer in IT. We are looking for someone to start asap for our next term (starting 15 February 2024) who can commit to 2 of 3 classes, which roughly equates to a commitment of 27 hours per week (including teaching, marking, prep, student support etc.). The role will be based in Brisbane (Fortitude Valley Campus). There will be a mix of online and face-to-face teaching.
The classes we need taught are the following:
- Computer Architecture and Operating Systems
- Information Technology Professional Practice
- Introduction to Programming (Python or C# Programming Language)
- Networking and Database Systems
- Research Methodologies
If you do not have skills in all the above but could cover 1 or 2 subjects, we'd still love to hear from you. As a Casual Lecturer, you will be responsible for preparing, delivering, and assessing subjects to ensure students are provided with the best opportunity to attain learning outcomes. Other key tasks include student support and administrative duties associated with running a class.
You will be responsible for:

• Delivering lectures and workshops on campus and/or online via our Learning Management System

• Maintaining curriculum and course materials

• Grading student work and providing timely, constructive feedback

• Monitoring student progress and well-being, providing support where necessary

• As a Lecturer you will have excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor students

• Provide creative direction and criticism to students.

Who you are:
Ideally, we’d love you to have previous experience teaching in the higher education sector, with a minimum Master’s degree qualification or equivalent industry experience.
We’re looking for applicants with high level proficiency in programming using Python or C#, Relational databases, Socket programming, Computer Architecture and Operating Systems.
