What’s the job?
We are offering an opportunity for an up and coming psychology academic to contribute to Australia’s newest Psychology School, as a casual Lecturer (Learning Facilitator) for Torrens University’s new Bachelor of Psychological science course.
The role will be online, with potential opportunities for a presence at one of our main campuses, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane, and will potentially include teaching and course development. There may also be an opportunity to combine this role with a supported and related research Higher Degree.
The Torrens School of Psychology features:
Whole student success focused learning and teaching, including professional success and life success as well as academic success.
Flexible entry pathways and course progression opportunities.
A Bachelor of Psychological Sciences degree which is a stand-alone professional qualification, equipping its graduates for a wide range of existing and emerging professions, as well as a potential pathway to further psychology degrees and registration as a psychologist.
Flexible state of the learning art delivery including next generation online and blended learning, and inclusion of Virtual Reality content and real-life challenge-based learning.
This is a casual role which will be remote. The position is initially expected to be the equivalent to approximately one day a week, however this may increase on the basis of growing student numbers. This role will commence 12th February 2024.
Who you are
To be successful in this position you will have:
Required Skills:
Significant knowledge of specific Psychology subject areas combined with a broad disciplinary background enabling contributions to teaching programs.
Experience in tertiary education, assessment, and ideally, curriculum development.
Understanding of pedagogical and/or adult learning principles relevant to the student cohort being taught.
A PhD in Psychology.
A whole student centred approach to teaching and learning.
Further required skills:
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and commitment to continuous professional development.
Ability to work competently and harmoniously with colleagues and students of all cultures and backgrounds.
Computer literacy in appropriate discipline-specific and learning technologies as per business requirements.
High service ethos and work commitment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
