About the Role
Level A / Level B
This Teaching Academic position is primarily focused on the delivery of teaching and associated administrative duties within the undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs in Mathematical Sciences. It will work with guidance and direction from other academic staff and undertake duties with increasing autonomy as the staff member gains skills and experience. This position utilises contemporary professional/discipline-related knowledge in their teaching practice, and carries out activities to develop scholarly expertise.

Core Responsibilities
Level A / Level B
- Under direction, prepare and conduct learning activities including lectures, tutorials, assessment and provide timely feedback to students
- Implement innovative teaching approaches (including face-to-face, online and blended learning) to promote student learning
- Deliver high quality teaching as demonstrated by a range of University approved data sources (e.g. student outcomes, student feedback, peer reviews etc.)
- Ensure teaching is informed by relevant research and industry practice in the discipline area
- Undertake administrative duties relative to teaching activities of identified courses and programs, including the development of course and program material and coordination of a course, if required, with guidance
- Provide quality feedback to students via approved assessment tasks
Essential Skills and Experience
Level A
- A doctoral qualification or relevant industry experience in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field Candidates who are nearing completion of their doctoral qualification are encouraged to apply
- Ability to undertake a range of teaching duties including the preparation of appropriate teaching activities and resources in mathematics
- High-level communication skills including demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with team members, external parties and colleagues
- Ability to use the necessary digital techniques required for excellent curriculum delivery
- Knowledge and understanding of a range of contemporary teaching methodologies
- High-level administrative and organisational skills.
- Empathy for students of a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching through continual development and improving performance
Level B
- A doctoral qualification in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field. Candidates who are nearing completion of their doctoral qualification are encouraged to apply
- Demonstrated ability and experience in teaching, including design and preparation of teaching activities and resources, for both service and discipline-specific teaching in the Mathematical Sciences
- Demonstrated ability to undertake research in one or more of the following areas that contribute to UniSA’s research strengths and strategic directions: applied statistics, applied optimisation, classical applied mathematical modelling
- High-level communication skills including demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with team members, colleagues, and external parties
- Understanding of and experience in using a range of contemporary teaching methodologies, including digital technique where appropriate
- High-level administrative and organisational skills.
- Empathy for students of a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching through continual development and improving performance.
- An established record of scholarship, relative to experience
