  • Full-time, 5 year fixed-term Lecturer / Senior Lecturer position located at Camperdown Campus

  • Opportunity to make a significant contribution to teaching and research in the School of Public Health with focus on quantitative research methods applied in Public Health settings

  • Academic Level B or C, Base salary ranging from $118,390 p.a. - $167,221 p.a. + 17% superannuation (salary will be commensurate to experience and qualification)

The Sydney School of Public Health is a network of educators, researchers, research groups and centres that facilitate the study of Public Health. The School is widely known for its strengths in biostatistics and epidemiology.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in QuantitativeMethods in Public Health to make a significant contribution to our teaching and research programs. This is an outstanding opportunity for an academic with a developing (Level B) / established (Level C) track record in applying quantitative research Methods in Public Health to continue their professional development with a school renowned for its high-quality research and teaching. The successful applicant will contribute to coordination and teaching of introductory and advanced units in Quantitative research methods offered across several degree programs in the School of Public Health and the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

Lecturer

  • develop, revise, coordinate, deliver, and assess units of study to postgraduate students enrolled in degree programs offered by the School of Public Health and Faculty of Medicine and Health, using both face-to-face and on-line delivery

  • contribute to research that enhances the profile of the school, including publication in journals of high standing, pursuing research grants, and presenting and disseminating research findings through appropriate channels

  • foster productive relationships and collaborations within the University and with external parties (including research partners, government and professional bodies, and industry)

  • contribute to academic administration

In addition, as Senior Lecturer

  • make a significant contribution to independent and collaborative research, education and administrative endeavours of their School and Faculty while building their reputation towards becoming an authority in the discipline

  • provide leadership with a significant impact on their School/ Faculty in teaching, teaching innovation or curriculum development and/or research training and supervision.

About you

Lecturer

  • a PhD in biostatistics, epidemiology, Public Health or closely related field

  • experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching across a variety of settings

  • an active research program with demonstrable potential for future publication

  • high-quality research outputs as lead author, senior author, or as a key member of a collaborative team.

  • statistical programming experience with software such as R, Stata, or SAS

  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work

  • demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work, sometimes under pressure, with competing priorities and limited supervision

  • excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matters

In addition, as Senior Lecturer

  • an understanding of and ability to support an academic endeavour from curriculum design to producing leading research and providing a student enabling environment

  • a well-established research program with demonstrable potential for future publication

  • demonstrated experience in high-quality supervision of research students through to project completion

  • recognised at a national level for expanding knowledge within the discipline

  • established network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the discipline, School/ Faculty and University
