We are currently offering part-time positions to passionate Teaching Academics who are ready to take a front seat in both educating and evolving our MBBS program.

Opportunity Highlights

  • Part-time Teaching Positions (0.6FTE/0.7FTE): You will take the lead in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) tutorials, engaging students in foundational years (1-3). These roles not only focus on teaching but also offer a path to leadership as Deputy Unit Coordinator in the critical second or third years of the program.
  • Leadership Development:Deputy Unit Coordinators will have the opportunity to significantly influence curriculum development and assessment strategies, and may also assume responsibilities of the Unit Coordinator in their absence, ensuring the continuity and quality of our educational offerings.
  • Compensation: Ranging from $110,442 to $155,293 (ALB/ALC) pro rata, plus 17% superannuation.

Your new role
  
As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, you will facilitate Problem-Based Learning, and/or other teaching aligned with your expertise. Drawing on your wealth of clinical and teaching experience, you will cultivate an inspiring learning environment for our students. Your role involves not only facilitating dynamic class group discussions but also ensuring positive engagement, all while contributing to the shaping of the future of medicine.
  
In addition, we have an opportunity for ambitious candidates seeking a leadership role as Deputy Unit Coordinator (Year 2 and Year 3). These positions include a large teaching and engagement component as per above, however will also provide leadership capabilities within the team.
To be successful you will have:
  • A degree in Medicine with APHRA registration (highly desirable). 
  • PhD or Clinical Fellowship (highly desirable). 
  • Proven high level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching and learning. 
  • A strong understanding of contemporary educational practice in medical education. 
  • Curriculum expertise and the ability to coordinate and support the foundation years of the MBBS program. 
  • A background in education and healthcare, combining your knowledge of curriculum design with healthcare expertise. 
  • An emerging record of peer reviewed publications (desirable). 
Your career history will showcase your professional expertise and your excellence in teaching and engagement. A good understanding of the student learning experience through high quality, effective teaching practice and curriculum understanding is essential.

The Curtin Medical School (CMS) encompasses the disciplines of Medicine, Laboratory Medicine, Pharmacy, Biomedical Science, and Medical Radiation Science. CMS forms part of the Faculty of Health Sciences and is affiliated with two research institutes; the Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute (CHIRI) and the enAble Institute for Health Science (enAble).
