We currently have a number of Legal Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel roles available within our Legal Services team to be located at any major EQL location and are inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates. About your new Legal Counsel role:
Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, you provide legal advice across all Divisions of Energy Queensland whilst ensuring legal risk is appropriately managed in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders.
The remuneration for your new role is from $164k plus 12.75% super for a 9-day fortnight and from $186k plus 12.75% super for a 10-day fortnight.
About your new Senior Legal Counsel role:
Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, you are a very experienced legal expert who works across the Energy Queensland portfolio of businesses. You provide high quality and timely legal advice to the Board, Chief Executive Officer, Executive Leadership Team and all Divisions. Your legal advice drives robust commercial decision making across the Energy Queensland portfolio whilst ensuring legal risk is appropriately managed.
The remuneration for your new role is from $184k plus 12.75% super for a 9-day fortnight and from $208k plus 12.75% super for a 10-day fortnight.
About you:
You have:
- A Bachelor of Laws degree with admission to practise as a solicitor in Queensland.
- Proven knowledge and capability with minimum 3+ years post admission experience (Legal Counsel) and minimum 5+ years post admission experience (Senior Legal Counsel).
- Ability to leverage legal and analytical skills to ensure knowledge of unfamiliar law is gained quickly.
- Capacity and ability to build rewarding relationships with the business, understanding the strategic needs and objectives.
- Ability to take ownership of matters and work autonomously.
- Demonstrated capacity to exercise the highest standards of confidentiality, ethics and sound judgement and a customer service ethic.
Electricity distribution or other infrastructure/utilities industry experience would be advantageous, as well as experience in relation to the operation of government owned corporations. Experience in any of the following areas of practice would also be viewed favourably: general commercial law, construction law, workplace health and safety law, ICT, disputes, privacy, competition and consumer law or property law.
