They are responsible for the movement of library resources and mail between branches and fill a critical role in the successful running of Mystery Box and Home Library Services.It can be a customer-facing role on occasion, delivering resources to customer doorsteps as per delivery schedules. Couriers may also be required to assist customers with enquiries during the course of their duties and are expected to convey a positive image of Libraries ACT and its services.Libraries ACT operate seven days a week and so this position requires working weekday, weekend, and evening shifts on a rostered basis at any Libraries ACT location.WHAT YOU WILL DOWorking under general direction, you will:
- Drive in a safe and responsible manner including ensuring vehicle procedures are followed, vehicle safety checks are undertaken, cleaning rosters are followed and adhere to road rules.
- Providing a friendly, prompt, safe and reliable library delivery service
- Listening and assisting to resolve issues or questions
- Building rapport with branch staff and customers
- Identify and prioritise deliveries in line with branch and service requirements
- Identify and share improved ways to do things.
- Report any mechanical issues which may impact service delivery
- Stand for periods of time and undertake physical working including lifting, packing, carrying and loading / unloading library resources.
- Carry out general housekeeping tasks related to the vehicles and equipment as directed.
- Comply with WHS policies, procedures, and requirements, taking reasonable care to protect their own health and safety and those of others in the workplace. This includes immediate and accurate reporting of incidents, hazards and near misses through appropriate channels.
- Demonstrated experience working as a delivery driver / courier in a library or related (e.g. retail, industry) setting.
- High level written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Experience working as part of a team to deliver responsive and adaptable customer service to members of the public.
- Demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision in a flexible manner in the achievement of goals and deadlines.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the TCCS Values framework, workplace respect, equity and diversity framework, workplace health and safety best practise and industrial democracy principles and practise.
- Current full “C” class driver's license and an excellent driving record / history
- A positive attitude, and a willingness to maintain productive working relationships.
- A focus on achieving the best results for customers and the broader community.
- No convictions recorded in the past 10 years for driving a vehicle with a proscribed range of alcohol
- No suspension or cancellation of licence in the past 10 years for traffic infringements or other matters, excluding parking fines.
- No more than six (6) accrued demerit points off licence at the time off application.
- This position requires a Working with Vulnerable People Check.
- This position requires a pre-employment medical.
