About the role - We are seeking an experienced Library AssistantSchool Officer to join our College Library. The Library School Officer is responsible for assisting the College Leadership Team and the Teacher Librarian in the delivery of responsive, relevant, and innovative information services to staff and students at Mary MacKillop College.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provides support services to Teacher Librarian in the management of the library.
  • Data entry into Oliver Library system, and processing (bar coding and covering).
  • Maintaining appropriate student records for borrowing of resources
  • Reshelving and general tidying of shelves.
  • Support of digital resources such as LearnPath, Oliver library catalogue, and ClickView.
  • Supporting staff and students with locating and borrowing library resources.
  • Following up on overdue loans, including lost or missing library resources.
  • Assisting with stocktaking and weeding processes.
  • Organise library events and displays to align with calendar events.
  • Promote the library as a vital learning hub within the college.
  • Managing library bookings.
  • Assisting to track data associated with resource engagement.
  • Other duties as required by Teacher Librarian.
  • Additional duties as required by the College Leadership Team.

Qualifications/Attributes

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Excellent computer literacy and proficiency.
  • Considerable organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative.
  • Responsiveness to the changing requirements of a school environment.
  • Experience with Oliver or similar library management system.

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to Teacher-Librarian for day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Line managed by Business Manager

To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:

  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.
