About the Library

The Flinders University Library is a pivotal resource, instrumental in supporting the achievement of the University's goals and mission. The Library is critical to the University's learning and research endeavours and the team is dedicated to transforming lives through championing equitable access to and engagement with knowledge. The Library has branches in various locations, including Bedford Park, Sturt, the Gus Fraenkel Medical Library, Tonsley, and City Campus.


About the Role

We have an exciting opening within our Library team as the Library Coordinator (Collection Strategy). The role is responsible for the Library's processes of acquisition, access, integration and deselection of scholarly works and digital content to support the Research, Learning and Teaching activities of the University. The successful incumbent will promote ideas and review practices and policies and support the delivery of Library services.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Leading and managing a team of Library professionals, including induction and training in the processes of procurement and management of scholarly information resources.
  • Contributing to the management of the financial and physical resources.
  • Establishing, developing, and maintaining effective working relationships with vendors, publishers and agents' representatives.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will be a passionate leader who can successfully guide an established team of librarians and technicians. You will have excellent people skills and temperament, allowing you to work well within the library community and across multiple teams. You will have fantastic customer service and negotiation skills, allowing you to negotiate with external stakeholders to achieve optimum outcomes in line with the Library's and wider University's needs.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.
  • The ability to evaluate and interpret complex data to provide advice to the library leadership team and other stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience leading a team at different levels to provide high quality services in procurement and provisioning of collections and resources.
  • Ability to develop new initiatives, developing and leveraging collaborative relations across and outside the organisation.
