The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity currently exists to join the team at Noosa Libraries in the role of Library Volunteer Officer. With dozens of volunteers contributing to a wide range of library services, this role is a pivotal position, providing coordination and support to our diverse and valued group of volunteers. The role also sits within our customer service team which is responsible for delivering daily library operations. It is a stimulating and rewarding role and the opportunity to be part of a passionate and friendly organisation that values individual contribution and staff wellbeing.

About You

You will be a natural leader, passionate about people and experienced in supporting volunteers. You will have strong organisational and time management skills and a high level of communication and interpersonal skills. You will possess a strong digital literacy, particularly in the use of Microsoft 365, and approach your work with a positive mindset.

The position's focus will be:

  • Organise and assist with a broad range of activities to recruit, train, and retain volunteers, and manage, review and maintain volunteer records.
  • Work closely with other Council staff who manage volunteers to ensure an integrated approach to the operational management of volunteers.
  • Manage the Home Library service, including supervising staff and volunteers delivering the service.
  • Build meaningful relationships and implement volunteer rewards and recognition to ensure volunteer opportunities are maximised and relationships enhanced.
  • Perform a range of routine library duties including assisting and educating customers to access information, resources, and IT equipment
