Position Overview

The Customs Broker will play a pivotal role in the daily operation of Priority’s import department. The candidate must possess proven experience handling import files and a well-versed knowledge of customs regulations, tariffs, and classifications. The ideal candidate must also be willing to actively participate in continuing education of themselves, employees, and customers. Attention to detail and willingness to learn are essential qualities. Candidates must be accommodating to different cultures and willing to work with people that may possess few English-speaking skills.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Licensed Customs Broker with current ABF License 
• AQIS/DAWE accreditation
• Commitment to required CPD points within CPD year
• Knowledge in entry preparation, classifying and compiling
• Checking and lodging entries
• Processing EFT payments
• Applying for tariff concessions
• Preparing refund/duty drawbacks
• Customs Tariff and Valuation
• Free Trade Agreements
• Direct  Experience working in CargoWise 
• Ability to promote a strong team environment
• Ability to keep up w/ fast paced changes in the international logistics environment
• Ability to carefully nurture  both knowledgeable and beginner international shippers by effectively expressing the employee and Priority’s knowledge base
• Ability to thrive in a  fast-paced environment and when dealing with stressful situations
• Strong customer service and problem resolution skills
• Ability to maintain and nurture a healthy relationship with clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies

Primary Job duties for a Licensed Customs Broker:

• Monitor and handle import shipments to completion and adherence to quality standards including:
  • Appropriate and timely entry of all data (documents and notes) in CargoWise
• Oversee and process daily customs entries, ensuring:
  • Proper classification with complete information
  • Timely  clearance
  • Handling of import customs files from A-to-Z
• Ensure carnets, licenses, etc. are properly maintained, tracked, and returned
• Ensure ITAR regulations are followed
• Ensure entry packets are sent timely to clients
• Active participation in team meetings
• Perform customs declaration audits
• Assist other departments with duty classifications as needed
• Ensure vendor compliance with Priority Worldwide service standards
• Ensure internal compliance  with the relevant regulatory agencies
