Fitter – LV

  
Mount Gibson Iron Limited is an established independent Australian producer of premium quality direct shipping iron ore (DSO) with assets in the Kimberley and Mid-West regions of Western Australia.
  
Mount Gibson’s flagship operation is the Koolan Island mine, located approximately 140km north of Derby in the Buccaneer Archipelago in the Kimberley. The mine is Australia’s highest-grade producer of direct-shipping grade hematite, with an average Ore Reserve grade of 65.5% Fe and a current mine life of +5 years.

About the role:

We are now seeking to employ an experienced Fitter – LV at our Koolan Island Operation on a 7 Days On / 7 Days Nights / 7 Day Off (12.5-hour day) roster from Perth, Broome, or Derby.
Reporting directly to the Ancillary Maintenance Supervisor, the primary focus of this role is to perform maintenance, service and breakdown repairs on all Light Vehicles and mid-range trucks, lighting plants, trailers and other associated ancillary equipment or as required on Koolan Island.

  • Demonstrate a good positive attitude, reflecting the values of Mt Gibson Iron and the Koolan Island Mine site.
  • Exercise the powers and perform the duties delegated or assigned by supervision
  • Devote the whole time of your time, attention, and skill during normal business hours and at other times as reasonably necessary, to perform your duties and contribute to continuous improvement of the efficiency of the Koolan Island operations.
  • Perform all duties and functions and exercise all powers and authorities, in a diligent, faithful, and prudent manner.
  • Observe and comply with the company’s rules, regulations and manuals, and all lawful and reasonable directions given.
  
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
  • Trade certificate as a Light Vehicle Fitter or equivalent.
  • Current WA Driver’s License, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years (post qualifying) experience in a similar position
  • Experience on Toyota would be highly regarded.
  • ARC Air conditioning repairer’s license essential or obtainable
  • Excellent Mechanical and Electrical diagnosis skills
  • Previous mining experience is desirable.
  • Parts interpretation experience
  • Forklift competency, or the capability to obtain this competency.
  • Current Senior First Aid, or the capability to obtain this qualification.
  • Demonstrated compliance to company OHS.
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to carry out instructions with minimal Supervision.
