This Program is designed to provide a supportive and structured environment for learning, enabling individuals with lived/living experience to enter paid employment while undertaking the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work within a participating community mental health organisation.

What's in it for you?

Within a relationship of mutuality and information sharing, the Peer Cadets will promote choice, self-determination and greater opportunities.

At the completion of the Peer Cadet Program, you will have gained a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, as well as experience in the sector. This enables you to be eligible for future employment as a Lived Experience Peer Worker.

  • Enhance problem-solving: Help others develop their problem-solving abilities by sharing your strategies and approaches.
  • Offer emotional and practical support: Provide personalised emotional support, information, and practical assistance tailored to individual needs.
  • Promote empowerment: Advocate for choice, self-determination, and greater opportunities for those you support.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build supportive relationships based on mutuality and information sharing.
  • Offer emotional support, information, and practical assistance to peers.
  • Foster an environment that promotes choice, self-determination, and empowerment.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance service delivery and outcomes.

Who we're looking for:

  • Lived experience: Personal experience with mental health challenges and recovery.
