Job Description
- 3 x part-time opportunities (0.6FTE - placement 2 days per week + paid study day)
- 10 Month contractcommencing August 2024
- Must be able to work from our Ringwood, Ferntree Gully, Narre Warren, Box Hill, Boronia and Dandenong offices – rotating locations.
- $33.22p/h + Super + Generous Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550
About the role
The Lived Experience Peer Cadet Program is an opportunity for people with lived/living experience undertaking the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work to enter paid part-time employment. At EACH, we offer placements in mental health, psychosocial support, alcohol and other drugs (AOD), youth mental health and family violence recovery.
Cadets should be well-progressed on their Recovery journeys so that they can be placed in these teams. In addition, cadets must be able to travel to EACH sites located at Boronia, Box Hill, Dandenong, Ferntree Gully, Narre Warren and Ringwood.
EACH Peer Cadets will:
- Be provided with a comprehensive orientation program.
- Be mentored by an experienced peer worker.
- Receive discipline-specific supervision, training, and reflective practice opportunities.
- Develop knowledge, skills, and confidence in Lived Experience/peer work in a structured and supported environment.
- Grow their understanding, experience, and knowledge in relation to working in a large community mental health service.
- Have personal qualities and experience that enable them to work effectively in the role of a peer worker.
- Gain an in-depth insight into how different service programs work together and learn from a wide variety of experienced professionals – both clinical and non-clinical – from other peer workers, clients, and their families in a supportive environment.
- Form effective and empathetic peer relationships by appropriately sharing personal Lived Experience, including the impact of mental illness, service use and recovery.
- Apply the principles of confidentiality to ensure people accessing services and others are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding.

- Have a Lived Experience of mental illness, substance dependence, family violence or trauma.
- Be well progressed upon their recovery journey.
Qualifications
- Enrolment in Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.
- You will also require a current Australian Drivers Licence in this role.
