1x Permanent Full Time, 35 hours, 5 days per week

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Coordinate and supervise a team of regulatory professionals including Parking Patrol Officers, Rangers and Animal Rangers providing direction, coaching, and support to achieve team goals. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement;
  • Manage operational relationship with animal shelter service provider and related stakeholder engagement for the rehoming of animals. To ensure planning and regulatory compliance matters in consultation with the Manager Community Standards and instigate legal proceedings as required;
  • Ensure an effective Regulatory Services presence across Council, including appropriate rostering, filling vacancies and identification of team priorities;
  • Develop and implement strategies and plans for enforcing council regulations and policies, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and standards. Monitor and evaluate enforcement activities, providing feedback and implementing corrective measures as required;
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including other council departments, law enforcement agencies, community groups, and the public. Respond to enquiries, resolve conflicts, and promote positive engagement to enhance community safety and satisfaction.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices, legislative changes, and emerging trends to ensure the Regulatory and Compliance team operate within their legislative delegations. This includes contributing to the development and review of council policies, procedures, and guidelines related to enforcement activities, and making recommendations for improvement;
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports, records, and documentation related to enforcement activities and team performance. This may include providing evidence in court. Ensure compliance with council policies and procedures and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

ABOUT YOU

The successful applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in management, planning, building surveying, compliance, enforcement, investigation or similar field.
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in Regulatory Services and Animal Shelter Management.
  • Demonstrated experience in investigating and resolving parking and companion animal issues, concerns and complaints, to achieve the best possible outcome.
  • Proven experience in managing a team in the Regulatory Services environment and animal holding environment, providing leadership to team members.
  • Demonstrated experience in complex report writing and reviewing.
