Why this role matters The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Oasis Youth Services provide safe and secure accommodation and professional support for young people who are homeless, by establishing rapport and providing individual, flexible support through a person centred framework.

About the role We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Living and Life Skills / Participation Worker to lead the provision of youth engagement and youth voice opportunities, specialist life and living skills programs, group work and community engagement and participation activities with young people aged 15-25 years. Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a permanent, full-time position based in Canberra, ACT.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 4. You will successfully Provide support to young people in line with Youth Services Model of Care and associated Frameworks. Establish effective relationships with clients that encourage self-determination and participation.

Design and Deliver workshops including presentations, training, Life Skills, facilitate research activities and school holiday programs. Assist young people with a range of activities in preparing for independent living. Embed genuine opportunities for youth participation, social enterprise activities and leadership opportunities and roles for young people across youth services.

Monitor risk to clients, staff and The Salvation Army in service delivery, provide responses to incidents and escalate where required. Maintain accurate client records for all clients and meet all funding body or legislative requirements.

Run client training, group work sessions and meetings. Review data, evaluation and feedback on service delivery. You will have A diploma / Degree qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field.

ACT Working with Vulnerable People Certification. Current ACT Driver License.

Current Senior First Aid Certification. Relevant experience in a social service environment.

Relevant experience in facilitation of group work. Demonstrated experience and ability to work with those impacted by substance miss-use, alcohol, gambling, and mental health conditions. A basic understanding of Attachment Disorder and Trauma Informed Care.

The ability to write strengths focused and evidence based documentation.
