About Us

Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate, and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state’s energy system.

The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland’s clean energy future. The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.

The Role

The Local Content Advisor will work closely with the Industry Engagement team to ensure that Local Content and social procurement-related communications and engagement activities, including supplier engagement platform/s, are planned, and delivered, and that appropriate oversight is provided to activities undertaken by delivery partners to ensure alignment with Queensland Hydro objectives and statutory requirements. The role will also assist team members to prepare reports related to industry participation, and social and sustainable procurement.

The key accountabilities of this role include:

  • Supporting the development and delivery of the Jobs, Skills and Industry Participation Strategy and supporting plans, policies, and associated initiatives across Queensland Hydro to align with company values and objectives as well as ensuring industry best practice.
  • Contributing to the planning and delivery of industry engagement and communication activities involving Local, Queensland, Australian and International contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers (using various engagement and communication medium) to raise their awareness of opportunities to supply goods and services to our projects.
  • Monitoring Local Content and social procurement activities undertaken by delivery partners to ensure alignment with Queensland Hydro objectives and statutory requirements.
  • Supporting the preparation and communication of regular reports and data on Local Content and social procurement activities for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitoring information publicly communicated about Queensland Hydro and its delivery partners to identify potential risks to the Program/Project.
  • Coordinating the gathering of supply market intelligence and assisting in the roll-out of supplier capability building initiatives.
  • Representing the Commercial team in cross-functional team meetings to ensure Local Content and social procurement considerations are integrated into business processes and decision-making.

About You

To be considered for this position you will ideally possess:

  • Certificate level qualification in Business, Commerce, Management, or equivalent qualification combined with experience in a Local Content or procurement role.
  • Australian driver’s license (C-class motor vehicle).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the field of Local Content (industry participation), industry engagement, social and sustainable procurement, supplier capability development, or equivalent.
  • Experience in major project contracts and procurement processes.
  • Experience working with industry, supplier advocates (specifically the Industry Capability Network, Chambers of Commerce etc.,), government and regulatory bodies.
  • Demonstrable experience in coordinating industry engagement and communications activities.
  • Clear and concise oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High standard and proficiency of presentation and report writing skills, and ability to contribute to the development of content and messaging to engage and persuade a variety of audiences.
  • High level proficiency utilising Microsoft Office products and appropriate engagement tools and systems.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
