Job description

Location:Upper Lachlan Shire with the flexibility to work from home as appropriate.

Classification / Tenure: Part Time (0.6 Full time equivalent, 21 hours per week) up to 30th June 2027, with the possibility of extension and expansion in line with future funding programs.

Renumeration: Salary $38/hr to $43/hr, depending on experience of the successful candidate, with 2.5% annual increase. Plus superannuation and pro-rata leave entitlements.

Upper Lachlan Landcare Inc. (ULL) is a not-for-profit community-based network committed to restoring the environment, improving agricultural sustainability (both economically and environmentally) and supporting communities around the Upper Lachlan region of New South Wales.

Position/role objectives

The Local Landcare Coordinator will work with ULL, to increase the capacity of the organisation to:

  • Support and increase community engagement.
  • Extend their coverage and provide support to more groups, networks and landholders.
  • Undertake planning, develop partnerships and secure resourcing through project grants and other sources.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on their projects and activities.
  • Improve financial sustainability and long-term viability by sourcing external funds.
  • Effectively participate in natural resource management activities that address critical agricultural sustainability and environmental issues.
  • Link to programs of Local Land Services and other Government agencies and organisations to develop on-ground natural resource management projects, in line with regional and state strategies.

Reporting/supervision arrangements

Position reports to, and is supported by, the ULL Operating Committee.

Links to existing programs

The successful applicant will be working in a broader Landcare network, with support available. The Local Landcare Coordinator will work closely with the Host organisation and other Landcare group's staff and Committee members, along with a broader network of Local Landcare Coordinators, Regional Landcare Coordinators and LLS staff across the South East Region.

Selection Criterion

Please address each of the following criteria as a short separate paragraph:

  1. Sound understanding of natural resource management issues in the region and demonstrated experience or a qualification in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Sustainable Agriculture or similar.
  2. Demonstrated well developed written and oral communication skills, including competency in the use of internet based platforms.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work with and develop community groups, including group facilitation and action planning.
  4. Proven ability to work and build partnerships with government, non-government agencies, community groups and landholders.
  5. Proven expertise in project planning, management, record keeping and report writing.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision, use initiative and work as part of a team or network.
  7. Ability and willingness to work outside office hours to contact landholders, attend community group meetings and to travel.
  8. Current driver's license.

Attendance at meetings outside of normal work hours may be required. Travel around the region and infrequent travel and overnight stays intra state will be required.

You may be required to use your own vehicle for work purposes, and provide us with copies of comprehensive or at least Third Party Property insurance for your vehicle. Vehicle use will be reimbursed on a per kilometer basis.
