FCTM utilise customer data and intelligence to detect, investigate and escalate potentially suspicious activity such as money laundering, financing of terrorism, and activity involving sanctioned parties. FCTM specialists work within the Financial Crime Portfolio to support businesses across the group in complying with Financial Crime regulatory obligations.The Machine Learning Engineer, Financial Crime Threat Management is critical to making this happen and will:
  • Lead the adoption of MLOps practices, including CI/CD for Machine Learning models for Financial Crime Threat Management in compliance with ANZ's Cloud, Data Governance, Privacy, Information Security and other relevant policies and frameworks, applicable regulations and industry standards.
  • Design and developIntegrate end-to-end automated pipelines to facilitate continuous experimentation (champion / challenger), training, testing, integration, deployment and monitoring of Machine Learning models and prediction serving.
  • Implement continuous monitoring and evaluation of Machine Learning models in production.
  • Ensure seamless model deployment and consistent performance across the transaction monitoring system.
  • Define, establish and improve data and model management and governance practices across the MLOps lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Customer Monitoring & Detection squad members, Financial Crime Intelligence and Technology teams to understand complex Financial Crime data and model requirements.
  • Maintain technical documentation for processes, workflows and configurations across the end-to-end MLOps lifecycle.
  • Upskill squad members and others within project/delivery area to develop cloud skill and ensure ongoing delivery of effective cloud solutions.
Role Location: MelbourneSchedule: Full TimeRole Type: 12 Months Fixed TermWhat will you bring?To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, or related fields
  • Proven experience in MLOps roles, predictive analytics or data science with a focus on automation at scale.
  • Expert in Python, SQL, and deployment on relevant data engineering toolscloud architectures (Google Cloud Platform, AWS).
  • Proven experience with Machine Learning frameworks (e.g., Vertex AI, SageMaker).
  • Familiarity with AML/CTF compliance requirements and transaction monitoring systems is a plus.
  • Strong expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g. Terraform, DBT).
  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with data governance, model governance and compliance best practices.
